Pile-Gard® PVC-T - Pile PreservationSince the first test piles were wrapped in the Port of Los Angeles with PILE-GARD on May 27, 1958 more than two million linear feet have been installed around the world. Highway bridges, railroad trestles, oil transfer stations, wharfs, piers and other marine structures from Australia to Alaska and Malaysia to Germany depend on PILE-GARD to stop marine borer attack. Tests indicate that a new pile wrapped with PILE-GARD can be preserved in its existing condition almost indefinitely. Pilings showing cross sectional loss of as much as 40% can be provided years of extended service life with PILE-GARD. The PILE-GARD system is a tight fitting hermetically sealed PVC membrane that reduces the dissolved oxygen content within the wrap to well below the levels that marine borers require to survive. On going installations and testing by Port Authorities across the US continue to reaffirm the efficacy of the PILE-GARD system. Testing indicates average dissolved oxygen reductions of 95% or more within seven days of installation.
